How does my prepaid Visa or MasterCard work?

Updated over 8 months ago

Using your points to buy a prepaid financial card such as the Visa Prepaid Card, Prepaid MasterCard, or Visa e-Gift Card (depending on your country) is a great and flexible way to enjoy your Qarrot rewards!

Before you purchase, we recommend you review the information below to ensure you understand how these prepaid financial cards work:

  • The Visa Prepaid Card, Prepaid MasterCard, and Visa e-Gift Card are a "non-reloadable prepaid" card, meaning the initial value is set by the person who purchased the card. Additional funds cannot be added later.

  • The Visa Prepaid Card can be used anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted, including online. You will receive an email with instructions for selecting either a virtual or physical card. Choose a virtual card that's available immediately, or a physical card sent via mail (shipping and handling fee of $3.00 to be deducted from card balance). Note: You must select your card within 4 months from the date these instructions are sent via email. So make sure to keep an eye on your inbox. Once the card is redeemed, you will have 7 months to use the funds.

  • The Visa e-Gift Card can be used anywhere that accepts Visa cards within the USA. You will receive an email with instructions for adding your card to your mobile wallet. Note: Once redeemed, you will have 12 months to use the funds.

  • The Prepaid MasterCard can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted around the world, including online. Once the card is redeemed, you will have 12 months to use the funds.

  • As with a credit or debit card, when you are ready to pay, simply hand the card to the merchant and sign the purchase receipt. If paying with a digital card, you can manually enter or provide your card number, expiration date, and CVV. If paying with your mobile wallet, simply follow the usual process for paying with your device.

  • Each time you make a purchase, that amount is automatically deducted from the card balance. It is best to personally keep track of your balance, as most merchants will not be able to tell you.

  • The card does not offer a line of credit like a credit card, which means you cannot use more than what is already loaded on the card.

For example, if you are using a 50 USD Visa e-Gift Card to purchase a product online for 45 USD, then your card balance will be 5 USD after the transaction.

Any subsequent purchases using your card must be 5 USD or less; otherwise, the purchase won't go through.
