Edit multiple people

The bulk-update feature makes it easy to edit multiple users at once

This article is for all Admins.

It's easy to bulk edit/update your people's information all at once with the bulk-update feature. You can add, edit or deactivate users (or any combination of the three) with just one upload!

Step 1. Download the template

  1. Go to Manage > People.

  2. Click Bulk.

  3. Under Templated bulk actions, select Update.

  4. Download the template from the panel that opens.

Step 2. Update user information

Open the downloaded file and update the information as needed.

Important notes

  • Do not modify row 1 of the template.

  • Removing a person from the file will deactivate their account.

  • Adding a new person to the file will create a new user. Newly added users will appear as Pending until they activate their account using the invitation email.

Custom profile attributes

Any profile attributes created by a Super Admin in Settings are automatically included as additional columns in the Bulk Update template.

You can populate or update these columns to assign profile attribute values to multiple people at once. This is a convenient way to organize employees by department, location, manager, or any other custom attribute before creating filtered teams or reports.

Updating email addresses

⚠️ Important: A user's email address cannot be updated through the Bulk Update template.

Because email addresses act as unique user identifiers, changing an email in the spreadsheet will create a new user instead of updating the existing one.

To update someone's email address:

  1. Go to Manage > People.

  2. Click the arrow menu beside the person's name.

  3. Select Edit.

  4. Update their email address there.

Updating spending points

You can update multiple users' Spending Points at the same time using the Bulk Update template.

Simply enter the desired balance for each person in the Spending Points column. Once uploaded, the value will become that user's new spending points balance.

This is especially useful when migrating from another recognition program and carrying over employees' existing points balances.

Step 3. Upload the edited file

Return to the Bulk Update panel, upload your edited file, and click Submit your file for review.

The review process usually takes only a few seconds.

Step 4. Review any errors

If the file contains invalid entries, you'll have the option to:

  • Correct the errors and upload the file again, or

  • Continue with the upload. Any rows containing errors will be skipped.

Note: If an error occurs because you've reached your user seat limit, ask your Super Admin to go to Manage > Subscription and add additional seats. Once the seats have been added, you can submit the file for review again.

Step 5. Submit the changes

Once you've reviewed the results, click Submit to apply your changes.
